How to Fix Cellular Data Not Working on iPhone and iPad - Sometimes your cellular data will stop working on your iPhone or iPad. Assuming you are not only in a poor coverage area, there are some general steps you can take that will fix a lot of non-functioning cellular data.
Clear Things
If you contact Genius Bar or your mobile operator about your problem, the first thing you will hear is "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" Restarting is troubleshooting 101 because it works so well, so make sure you give it the first shot.

1. Reinsert the SIM Card

The sequence you have to do is:
- Turn off your iPhone
- Remove the SIM card
- Reinsert the SIM card
- Restart your cellphone
2. Activate Data Roaming
This might sound counterintuitive, but many people who experience iPhone data blackouts find this a reliable solution. Specifically, after certain iOS updates, some devices have been affected by bugs which cause the OS to get confused when you are roaming.
Obviously, this is a solution to what is expected to be a temporary bug, but if you go abroad and are still hanging around, remember to turn it off because otherwise you might face an unpleasant telephone bill.
3. Reset Network Settings
If cellular data stubbornly refuses to cooperate, we may need to completely reset network settings.
